Hearts unblocked: play Hearts online free right here in your browser — no download, no sign-up, works on a school Chromebook.

Hearts is a timeless trick-taking card game built on evasion, calculation, and bluffing. Unlike standard card games where taking tricks is the goal, Hearts flips the objective on its head: your primary mission is to dodge points by letting your opponents win tricks that contain penalty cards. Every hand requires reading the table, managing risky suits, and anticipating when an opponent is setting up a trap.

On a site filled with cheeky meta-puzzles and tricky logic challenges like There Is No Game, Hearts provides a pure test of tactical card play. It offers quick rounds against three computer opponents with immediate card dealing, making it a great title to play when you want an engaging session of classic strategy that rewards careful planning.

How to play

A standard game uses a 52-card deck dealt evenly among four players. At the start of most rounds, players select three cards to pass to an opponent according to a rotating cycle: left, right, across, and hold. Passing allows you to shed high cards in short suits or set up specific voids in your hand.

The player holding the Two of Clubs leads the first trick. Play proceeds clockwise, and every participant must follow the suit that was led if they hold a matching card. If you cannot follow suit, you may discard any card from your hand, though penalty cards cannot be played on the first trick. The highest card in the led suit takes the trick and leads the next one. Points are tallied once all thirteen tricks are finished: each heart card is worth one penalty point, while the Queen of Spades costs thirteen points. Rounds continue until at least one player reaches one hundred points, at which point the player with the lowest score wins.

Tips and strategy

Creating a void early in diamonds or clubs is one of the most reliable ways to stay safe. Once you run out of cards in a side suit, you can freely slough off dangerous face cards and hearts whenever that suit is led.

Protect your Queen of Spades with lower spades. If you hold the queen without enough low spades, opponents may lead spades repeatedly until you are forced to play it and capture your own penalty. Conversely, if you notice an opponent aggressively collecting every point card, do not hesitate to win a trick or pass them a heart to stop them from shooting the moon.

Questions about Hearts

Is Hearts unblocked at school?

Hearts runs in an ordinary browser tab from thereisnogame.org, with nothing to download or install, so it plays on most school Chromebooks and work computers. If a network filter blocks the site, only that network's administrator can change it.

How do you score points in Hearts?

Each heart taken in a trick adds one penalty point, and the Queen of Spades adds thirteen penalty points. The objective is to finish the game with the lowest total score.

What does shooting the moon mean in Hearts?

Shooting the moon occurs when a single player wins every heart and the Queen of Spades in one round. Instead of gaining 26 penalty points, you give 26 points to each opponent.

Can you lead with a heart on the opening trick?

No, the opening trick must begin with the Two of Clubs. Hearts cannot be led in subsequent tricks until a heart has been discarded on another suit, which breaks hearts.

Do you need to download anything to play Hearts?

No downloads or accounts are required. The game runs directly in any modern desktop or mobile web browser using HTML5.
